This year, the college’s magazine, the HMC Bulletin, will mark its 25th anniversary. The first issues of the HMC Bulletin were published bimonthly, except during the summer, beginning with the February 1981 issue. During the 1980s, issues were edited by a succession of editors: Richard Puz, John Crowe, Laura Tonderault and Jim Groth. The 8-page tabloid evolved into a magazine format as a new decade began under the leadership of Anne McDonald, who served as editor until the mid-’90s. At that time, editor John Barna returned to a tabloid format. Editors Leslie Baer and Joseph Wakelee-Lynch reinstated the magazine format in 1996, and current editor, Stephanie Graham, has continued this format, with some design and format updates and an online version, which debuted this past April. Issues are archived back to 2000.
Today, the magazine is published with this mission statement in mind: “The HMC Bulletin fosters ties with alumni and friends of the college by featuring achievements of alumni, students, faculty and staff, with particular emphasis on the societal impact of engineering, science and mathematics.” The Office of College Relations would like to thank our dedicated readers and encourage you to continue letting us know what you think of this publication.
